Did you miss the grand re-opening and 100 year celebration of Tomasini’s Rex Ace Hardware and Country Store, yesterday?

From the time the doors opened, and all through the day, hundreds of Petalumans came to 313 B Street to see the new store that replaced the building that burned down last year. (The outside looked the same; but not the inside. Come down and see for yourself.) They not only purchased “this and that,” but they also brought a favorite dish to share with friends and neighbors as well.

This blogger has often “talked” about Petaluma’s “spirit” and how our community can come together for a common cause. Yesterday, we actually “walked the walked.” Bill Soberanes would have loved it because people were “mingling” and taking photographs. Even the “Petalumans of Yesteryear” appeared to join today’s Petalumans in an event that will be long remembered by both young and old.

The Tomasini family should be pleased with their re-opening. We are certainly proud of their re-building accomplishment and their service to our community. Here’s to the next 100 years!
