OK, so we’ve been “goofing off,” and “No, the garage hasn’t been cleaned up … yet!” Can Me, Myself & I  blame it on the fact that Eagle-Eyes hasn’t spotted any headlines lately that captured his attention that contained a constructive and positive message? Maybe it’s the fault of Hammerhead, who has run out of nails to “hit on the head.”

In any event, this blogging team will try to recover from the summer doldrums. It isn’t because we haven’t been busy. For example: the CERT-CERN exhibit at the recent “Classic Wings & Wheels” event at the Petaluma Airport, for the second year in a row, helped inform the public about disaster training opportunities and emergency communications at the neighborhood level. Next month, KI6GOO will be a volunteer Ham radio operator helping out at Santa Rosa’s annual “Wings Over Wine Country” air show sponsored by the Pacific Coast Air Museum. Check out these sites for more information: http://wingsoverwinecountry.org and http://www.airshowfan.com

A couple of other community volunteer projects are in the works. Get ready, however, for two more Emergency Readiness events in September , (FEMA, Citizen Corps supported National Preparedness Month)  http://www.ready.gov/america/npm10/makeaplan.html and in October (the Great California Shakeout)  http://www.shakeout.org/drill/

Stay tuned for additional information related to these two events designed to help citizens to Be Ready, to Be Prepared, and to Be Informed, WHEN … not IF, the next major disaster occurs in the North Bay Region. As these Emergency Preparedness blogs have often stated, our goal is not to scare you, but to prepare you to cope with a situation when you, your family, and your neighbors will be on your own for days.
