March 14, 2006 … one of my earliest blogs for Petaluma360 (Our Cyberplace #5), was titled, “CERT Training.” It is only a coincidence, but the 12th CERT Course to be offered in Petaluma starts tomorrow night at Groverman Hall, PVH.  The theme of this “old message” is just as true today as it was back then.

Readers can check it out, again, by going to the list of blog dates (to the right) and click on March 2006.  Then, for “justification” as to why volunteers like Bill Paxton, Kevin Marks, and David Zacks donate their time to teach the various emergency preparedness topics covered in this Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course, take a look at http://www.cisn.org/shakemap/nc/shake/HaywardRC_4_se/intensity.html

Please remember that the purpose of all these blogs are not meant to scare you; but to prepare YOU, your family, and your neighbors for this type of disaster. It’s only a matter of WHEN, not IF.

P.S. Yes, I know … my Emergency Preparedness blog #47, posted on 1/25/10, was titled “OK … For the Last Time;” however, I couldn’t allow this 4th anniversary date pass without some type of acknowledgement. I hope you live in a STAR Neighborhood; one that is Safe, Trained, Alert, and Ready.
