The Sage woke up at 4 a.m. today with the word BUSY bouncing around in his mind. Why? Maybe it was due to the fact that he took a few days off last week from his busy schedule of community activities and events. After all, this month is National Emergency Preparedness Month and no matter how hard you work at it, you’re never fully prepared or ready for a mega-disaster.

His few days away from Petaluma were spent getting reacquainted with the Lake Tahoe area. It’s been years since he was last there; so as he drove around the lake, memories of camping, hiking, and skiing plus the beautiful scenery caused him to think about the need for breaks from one’s day-to-day busyness. In other words, do we become too busy for one’s own good? Just what does the word busy really mean?

Let’s check out our trusty old dictionary for a definition: occupied – fully occupied in a particular activity, especially work; full of activity with a large number of people moving around; not free because of being committed to something else that has been planned or arranged. There were additional clauses that defined busy, but the Sage has created his own definition by employing his favorite technique of using a real word as an acronym:

B= Busting your butt with this and that.

U= Underestimating the time needed to get the job done.

S= Seeking a better way of doing whatever it is you’re trying to do.

Y= Yearning something very much and feeling sad because of difficulties encountered in fulfilling your desired goal.

Got to go! I’m just too busy with other tasks to go on with this blog; however, if you’re not too busy, what thoughts do you have on this topic. Please leave a comment.
